Happy Mardi Gras everyone! In honor of this festive day, I’ve posted a series of photographs of Eric “Badlands” Booker demonstrating his crawfish eating technique. Badlands is the world’s 13th ranked competitive eater, and he let me tag along this past weekend as he prepared for today’s House of Blues Showboat Crawfish Eating Competition in Atlantic City.
Badlands holds every record imaginable as a member of the International Federation of Competitive Eating, including 4 pounds of corned beef hash in 1 minute and 58 seconds and 21 baseball-sized matzo balls in 5 minutes and 25 seconds. He also raps about his Major League Eating, which you can find out more about at hiswebsite.
UPDATE: Badlands placed third at the Showboat Crawfish Eating Competition, eating 3.88 pounds of crawfish during the 12-minute contest. The first place eater won by downing 4.99 pounds.
